It was great to meet with Richard Bell from the Haldon Range and put a face to the technology that created the Dormeuil Fabric Jade.
Two years ago Marlborough farmer Richard Bell imagined blending micro particles of pounamu, into his Haldon Range wool fibre. He discussed the idea with jade sculptor Ian Boustridge of Greymouth and samples of the stone were sent to European clothmaker Dormeuil. The finished product is smoother and softer.
It is this Jade cloth that we used for Prime Minister John Key to wear to the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. We were the first to make a suit from Jade in the world.
Richard Bell is a great advocate for New Zealand made and we look forward to working with Richard on many more projects in the future. www.haldonrange.com
